One of our favorite woods to turn and finish, Ambrosia Maple is easy to cut and leaves a smooth surface with sharp tools. Occasional pinhole-size wormholes are easy to fill with sanding dust mixed with CA adhesive prior to sanding.
Turning blanks are sold partly seasoned with no guarantee of moisture content.
